The Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratyev, said that a residential building damaged by the crash of the SU-24 aircraft could be restored within five months. The decision on the fate of the house will be made after examination by specialists, reports TASS.
Operational headquarters of the region published statement of the head of the region, who called on his subordinates to carry out restoration work in a short time. “As for entrances 2, 3 and 4. Under favorable conditions and a positive opinion of experts, we will begin to restore this destroyed span. Depending on the degree of damage, it will take from a month to five,” said Veniamin Kondratiev.
The crash of the SU-24 fighter-bomber, which took off from the Yeysk airfield, occurred on the evening of October 17. While climbing, one of the engines caught fire, the plane lost control and crashed into a residential building. The pilots ejected, and when the fuel ignited, a fire broke out that engulfed 72 apartments. Extinguishing the fire continued until half past five in the morning on October 18, the bodies of 14 people were found at the crash site, another 19 people were injured, four are in serious condition. More than four hundred residents of the house were evacuated and settled with relatives or in a guest house.
