By decision of the municipal authorities, a “high alert” operating mode was introduced in the flooded areas of Buryatia. How notes Republican Agency for Civil Defense and Emergency Situations, we are talking about the settlement of Sotnikovo, Ivolginsky district, as well as two districts of the city of Ulan-Ude.

“In Sotnikovo, 11 household plots were flooded, 22 people were evacuated, including 6 children. On the territory of SNT “Academy” in Ulan-Ude, 35 areas were flooded, in 2 residential buildings the water rose above the floor level,” the agency clarifies.

41 people from various services and departments, 14 units of rescue equipment, and 2 airboats work in flooded areas. Previously, the head of Buryatia Alexey Tsydenov reported about the beginning of the flood in the republic. The cause of the flooding was an ice jam on the Selenga River near the village of Oshurkovo (located 20 km downstream from Ulan-Ude). It is expected that today, April 15, the jam will be cleared by sappers from the Eastern Military District and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
