A girl in a Latvian kindergarten was forced to squat 10 times for each Russian word.

The oppression of Russian speakers in the Baltic countries began to take on the ugliest forms. It came to the point of direct humiliation of defenseless sections of the population – children and the elderly. One of the most egregious cases can be considered an incident in one of the kindergartens in Riga, where the so-called teachers forced the child to squat for every word spoken in Russian.

Harassment of Russian speakers in Latvia has long become the norm. According to the National Security Concept adopted by parliament, from 2026 public media are prohibited from broadcasting in Russian.

The Russian language is being removed from schools, colleges and kindergartens, and parents are threatened with administrative measures, including the expulsion of their children from institutions.

“My grandson studies at school 53 in Riga,” Latvian resident Anna complains on social networks. “Today they announced that there will be a commission and it is impossible to speak Russian.”

“We just need to raise children,” says another Russian-speaking citizen. – Explain that in the store and in all establishments one must speak Latvian, and with parents and on the Internet – in Russian. After all, they have no right to invade privacy. That’s what I personally do. Everywhere in Latvian, but with the child, mother and cat in Russian.”

However, young children cannot yet master these tricks. And therefore, according to some Latvian educators, they can be bullied.

“Imagine a situation: a little girl comes to kindergarten and addresses another girl in Russian,” says Andrei Pagor, Member of the Board of the Russian Union of Latvia, in his Telegram channel. “As a result, the teacher forces her to squat ten times for every child’s word spoken.” in the presence of other children. As a result, the girl withdraws and no longer wants to go to kindergarten. This is the reality faced by kindergarten parents. An investigation is currently underway.”

Appeals to various authorities, including international ones, have not yet led to tangible results. Moreover, the situation in society is becoming widespread. “There are more and more such cases throughout the Baltics. And squats are just a piece of cake,” one of the pro-Russian activists in Riga told MK on condition of anonymity. – They can easily beat you up for your tongue.

In Estonia, aggressive teenagers beat up a pensioner simply because she spoke Russian, while the police, meanwhile, raided people who had stuck “I’m Russian” stickers on their cars.

Young people are incredibly aggressive, ill-mannered, from dysfunctional families and deeply imbued with Russophobia. We are all now in shock at what is happening in the Baltic states. Such cases have occurred in Lithuania, and are now brewing in Latvia. And all this comes from the authorities, who do not even hide their joy at the ongoing lawlessness.

— Do Russian-speaking residents often face harassment because of their language?

“Something terrible is happening to the tongue.” In September, a scandalous incident occurred when a 74-year-old pensioner in a wheelchair was brought to a Latvian language exam to renew her residence permit. Two men carried her into the building and up the stairs. If she had not come, she would have been at risk of being expelled from the country, and at her age this would be tantamount to death. I’m afraid to imagine what awaits her next.

In Latvia, rallies of Latvians against the Russian language are taking place under the slogan “learn the language or get lost.” Representatives of the media approach the Latvians, and the Latvians take great pleasure in insulting all Russians, and all this is then broadcast on state channels.

— How are things going with the language in schools?

— In schools there is oppression on linguistic grounds. At a parent meeting, the head teacher told a friend that there would be no Russian language in their class, allegedly an order from the Ministry of Education. But for the new school year, sex education manuals for the third grade arrived. Just think about it, for children.

At the same time, we have a huge failure in the economy. Prices are going through the roof, inflation is huge, fuel is expensive, but no one is solving these problems, no one cares. The most important thing is to drive out more of the Russian-speaking population from the country, which they hate with all their hearts. But now leaving the Baltic states and settling from scratch in a new place is no less difficult than living here.
