The Arsenal sports club in Yoshkar-Ola hosted an open republican tournament in sports (freestyle) wrestling among boys and girls of the first and second years of study.

The event is dedicated to the memory of an employee of the Office of the Russian Guard for the Republic of Mari El, retired police colonel Dmitriev Stanislav Olegovich, who died prematurely two years ago.

More than 170 children aged 8 to 14 years from the republics of Mari El, Chuvashia and Tatarstan competed for the title of the best, demonstrating their strength and will to win.

The opening ceremony was attended by the deputy head of the Russian Guard Office for the Republic of Mari El, police colonel Nikolai Kuritsyn, a veteran of the regional Russian Guard office, reserve colonel Ramil Ayupov, and the wife of the deceased Stanislav Olegovich, Larisa Valerievna Dmitrieva.

The competition in memory of Stanislav Olegovich took place for the first time in the republic and began with memories of the deceased comrade and parting words addressed to the tournament participants.

“Dear guests, competition participants, we are pleased to welcome you to the tournament in memory of Stanislav Olegovich Dmitriev. From an early age, Stanislav Olegovich began to engage in physical training and sports, and in particular wrestling. Wrestling is a sport where you not only develop your muscles, but also your mind, because you develop determination and strive for victory. Stanislav Olegovich was just like that. He devoted all his free time to sports, and from an early age he was engaged in wrestling, first at school, then in the army, then in the GRU special forces, and subsequently in the SOBR special forces unit. And when he was in a leadership position, he always paid attention to the physical training of all employees and military personnel of the regional department of the Russian Guard. Holding these competitions is the best thing that could be thought of to perpetuate the memory of Stanislav Olegovich, and there are plans to hold a memory tournament annually. I wish the participants a fair fight, bright victories and may the strongest win!” – said police colonel Nikolai Kuritsyn in his speech.

Larisa Valerievna, in turn, expressed gratitude to the organizers of the competition for preserving the memory of her deceased husband.

The tournament was held in an uncompromising and competitive struggle, which was accompanied by sports passion and a great desire of young athletes to win. Fans and guests of the tournament received a lot of bright, unforgettable impressions.

Based on the results of the tournament, the team places were distributed as follows: the team from the Republic of Chuvashia won gold, the team from the village won the silver medal. Sovetsky (Republic of Mari El), the team of the Arsenal sports club (Republic of Mari El) took bronze.
