The governor of the Ulyanovsk region Alexei Russkikh said that a foreign citizen was detained in his region in the case of desecration of the Koran. According to him, earlier this man filmed the desecration of the Koran on video.
“A video appeared on the network in which a foreign citizen commits blasphemous acts against the holy book of the Koran for Muslims. According to preliminary data, the provocateur was on the territory of Ulyanovsk. Now our militiamen are engaged in this egregious case. The offender was detained, ”said the governor of the Ulyanovsk region in Telegram. “I am sure that the actions of the scoundrel will be given the toughest legal assessment,” he added.
As reported in Telegram channel Assembly of the Peoples of Russia, the detainee – Said Abu Mustafa – an Egyptian living in Ulyanovsk.
In May, for setting fire to the Koran in front of a mosque in Volgograd,held 19 year old young man. A criminal case was opened against him for insulting the feelings of believers (part 2 of article 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the investigation is being carried out in Chechnya. The young man was detained after a video appeared on the network in which a man (his face is not visible), while in the bushes 20 meters from the mosque, burns the Koran. Now he located in the pre-trial detention center in Grozny.
The Russian authorities began to pay close attention to the desecration of a sacred book for Muslims after the burning of the Koran in Sweden. The actions were started by the Danish-Swedish activist of the ultra-right and anti-Islamist party Hard Line (“Hard Course”) Rasmus Paludan. He burned the Koran, including in front of the Russian embassy in Denmark.
