A foreigner detained for writing on the wall of the Pospelovskaya battery of the Vladivostok fortress thought that he was writing on an ordinary wall and did not suspect that it was a monument, reports “RIA News” citing a source familiar with the situation.

March 4, investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee for Primorye aroused a criminal case after the walls of the Pospelovskaya battery of the Vladivostok fortress were painted with paint from an aerosol can. The case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 243.4 of the Criminal Code (damage to monuments, steles, obelisks, other memorial structures or objects perpetuating the memory of those who died defending the Fatherland or its interests or dedicated to the days of military glory of Russia). According to the published videos, the inscription “Akosh + Sasha” was painted on the wall.

Later, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Vladivostok reported that a young man and a girl were detained on suspicion of committing a crime. Later source “RIA News” Law enforcement agencies stated that the detained man is a native of Uzbekistan who has a residence permit in Russia.

The Vladivostok fortress is a complex of long-term defensive structures that were built at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries in Vladivostok and its environs.
