A fierce storm reveals the remains of a mysterious ship

A mysterious ship suddenly appeared on the shores of a coastal settlement in Newfoundland; it was displaced from the seabed by a violent storm. As a new storm approaches eastern Canada, archaeologists scramble to save the artifact.
A sunken ship stuck in shallow waters near the small town of Cape Ray was discovered by a local resident.
Divers from the Clean Harbors Initiative heard about it, grabbed their gear and rushed to the beach. Swimming around the ship, they tried to secure it by tying ropes around its 30-meter-long hull.
“It’s a pretty magical experience when you’re the first two people standing on this ship in probably 200 years,” the diver said CNN.
Both men worked in the region for two years as part of the coastal cleanup operation following Hurricane Fiona, which hit Atlantic Canada in 2022 and became one of the worst storms in the country’s history.
Bath believes it was Hurricane Fiona that initially dislodged the wreck from its resting place before it slowly drifted towards the southwest coast of Newfoundland, driven by storms and sea waves.
Now, as a new storm approaches, the community tries to stop the ship from being destroyed by the same elements that brought it to their shores.
Experts say the Cape Ray shipwreck is an example of a broader phenomenon in which storms driven by climate change are revealing the world’s underwater history but also destroying it.
So far nothing is known about the ship.
