The bill on arming the Russian Guard with military equipment was submitted to the State Duma, should from the Duma electronic database.
According to the explanatory note, it is proposed to add to the right of the National Guard troops to have military equipment. Amendments are made to the Federal Law “On the National Guard Troops”. The initiative was initiated by Alexander Khinshtein, Chairman of the Duma Committee on Information Policy, Andrei Kartapolov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense, and Vasily Piskarev, Head of the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption.
“In fact, the draft law proposes to bring the text of the current norms of the Federal Law into line with reality through clarification of the conceptual apparatus, which will clarify the existing legal gaps and give the amended norms formal certainty,” the note says.
On plans to equip the Russian Guard with military equipment declared its head Viktor Zolotov on 27 June. As Khinshtein noted, the availability of heavy equipment is the “most important issue” for the National Guard. On July 13, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin announced the preparation of the relevant amendments by Khinshtein together with the National Guard and the government.

Then the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, took control of the military facilities of Rostov-on-Don and announced a campaign against Moscow. In the evening, the Kremlin reported on the agreements reached with Prigozhin: the PMC would return to the field camps, the criminal case against him would be dropped, and he himself would “leave for Belarus.” On June 27, the FSB announced the termination of the criminal case.
