A discussion of the development of the Pets in the City project has been opened on the City of Ideas portal

From February 28 to March 6, Muscovites can share ideas with the authorities on the modernization and development of infrastructure for dogs and their owners.

There is a dog in almost every tenth Moscow family. And these pets, unlike cats, require daily walks. But there are not so many specially equipped areas for walking dogs in Moscow, so the owners have to walk their pets where possible, although not always allowed.

The authorities of the capital took up this issue several years ago – in 2021, as part of the My District program, a pilot project Pets in Moscow was launched, aimed at developing urban infrastructure for dogs and their owners. After discussions with Muscovites, 33 regional dog walking and training grounds were modernized in the capital, and last year specialized master classes and lectures for dog owners began to be held at these sites, mobile grooming and veterinary care stations appeared.

Now in Moscow there are 688 public areas for walking and training dogs. This year, it is planned to create another 14 new and improve more than 50 existing sites. But this is still clearly not enough to make the dogs, their owners and other Muscovites feel comfortable.

To improve the situation, platform City of Ideas On February 28, a collection of proposals for the development of the Pets in Moscow project was launched. Until March 6, residents of the capital will be able to offer their ideas for the development of the project in three areas: the development of areas for dogs, the organization of events for dog owners and the comfortable use of the area. And Muscovites can also share their positive or negative experience with keeping dogs in urban conditions, tell what problems they face most often, discuss issues related to the conscious attitude of owners to their pets and respect for others.

“For a comfortable life with pets, it is important that the places for free walking of dogs are convenient, safe and located at a reasonable distance from the house. At the same time, it is of great importance for all Muscovites that dog owners maintain cleanliness on the streets, in the yards and on the walking grounds themselves, ”the organizers of the project explained.

As usual, after the completion of the discussion of the ideas of the project participants, who will receive the greatest support, the authorities of the capital will implement them within the framework of the My District program.
