A device for training combat swimmers has been invented in Russia

With its help, they will be able to learn without hurting each other.

A device with the help of which combat swimmers can acquire the necessary skills was developed by military scientists from St. Petersburg. Recently, the Military Institute of Physical Culture of the Russian Ministry of Defense received a patent of the Russian Federation for a device for their training.

The inventors explain that the device is intended for the safe training and training of combat swimmers in attacking and defensive actions of hand-to-hand combat with edged weapons in the aquatic environment. With its help, military personnel working underwater will be able to gain skills in fighting rivals not only in situations where harm to a comrade in underwater sparring is likely.

The basis of the invention of St. Petersburg military scientists is a reinforced rubber square with negative buoyancy, equipped with simulators of the hands of a potential enemy with models of knives, a mask and an oxygen tube. The device is mirrored: hand models, masks and tubes are located on both sides of the square. This allows two fighters to complete the task simultaneously. Along the perimeter of the square there is a metal frame on which “arms” and “legs” can be hung.

During training, the device is immersed in water to a given depth, using a cable and carabiners, it is attached to the float stops of the tracks or buoys in the pool, and in an open reservoir – to a boat or pontoon. Swimmers, “fighting” with the device, practice attack and defense skills in underwater combat without harming each other. They learn to strike vital parts of the body of a potential enemy, a fellow combat swimmer, and tear out an oxygen tube. And the fact that the attack occurs from both sides and the “enemy” is moving makes the training battle more realistic.
