The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case after the death of tourists in an avalanche in Kamchatka

The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation announced the initiation of a criminal case into the death of tourists in Kamchatka as a result of an avalanche.

It is clarified that the defendants in the case are an individual entrepreneur and a man who led a tourist group.

“A criminal case has been opened regarding the provision of paid educational services that do not meet the safety and health requirements of consumers, resulting in the death of two persons as a result of an avalanche (part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation),” the Sledkom reported.

The investigation is also under the control of the Kamchatka Territory Prosecutor’s Office.

Let us remind you that on March 18, a group of 11 tourists moved along the ridge of the Krasnoarmeysky pass in unfavorable weather conditions. An avalanche hit people, killing a 44-year-old woman and a 19-year-old boy.
