The Tverskoy Court of Moscow fined animal rights activist Natalya Koshanskaya 4 thousand rubles. She was found guilty of disobeying a lawful request of a police officer (Part 1 of Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation).

Ms. Koshanskaya participated in the rescue of a cat that had been locked in a Mitsubishi Outlander for several days on Okhotny Ryad, not far from the Bolshoi Theater. During the opening of the car by emergency services, the animal rights activist tried to take the cat for herself, which resulted in a conflict with the police. Law enforcement agencies decided that she did not have the right to do this, since she was not the owner of the cat. As a result, Ms. Koshanskaya was detained and taken to the Kitay-Gorod Department of Internal Affairs, and a report was drawn up against the woman.

Natalya Koshanskaya previously served in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and now works as an industrial climber. According to TASSthe cat ended up in a locked car, as the owner of the car was placed in a special medical facility for inappropriate behavior.
