For test flights of drones, an 87 km long zone may be opened between the flight test complex in the Moscow industrial park Rudnevo and the Volosovo airfield near Moscow. The Moscow government is discussing the creation of such a zone with the State Corporation for Air Traffic Management (ATM). A Vedomosti source at a company in the drone market told about this. Information about the launch of the air corridor was confirmed by an interlocutor at the company that produces drones. The corridor could be operational as early as 2024.
In Rudnevo itself, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) weighing up to 30 kg will be tested, and heavy and super-heavy drones will be launched at third-party testing sites, Vedomosti’s source in the company in the drone market knows. For these purposes, the Federal UAS Center, located in Rudnevo, has already signed four agreements with airfields, including Volosovo. Vedomosti sent inquiries to the Moscow government and the State ATM Corporation.
