The State Duma will consider a bill to abolish the mandatory Unified State Exam in Russia
A bill to abolish the mandatory passing of the Unified State Exam for schoolchildren will be submitted to the State Duma of the Russian Federation on Monday, March 11.
The authors of the initiative were deputies from the LDPR party. The document proposes making the Unified State Exam voluntary, which will allow teenagers graduating from school to choose between the Unified State Exam and traditional final exams.
“Official surveys and any meeting in any audience show that they do not like the Unified State Examination. These are costs for parents, an inadequate mechanism for monitoring knowledge, disorders and various diseases. We hope that the harmful mechanism that… torments children will be corrected, or better – generally eliminated over time,” said one of the document’s developers, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs Yaroslav Nilov.
