According to them, the body of an 86-year-old man was found by his wife at the entrance of their house in Moscow yesterday, October 4. “Novikov committed suicide in the entrance of his own house. An investigation is underway on this fact, ”said the TASS interlocutor.
According to RIA Novosti, Mr. Novikov had dementia. A suicide note was found with him, its contents are not given.
Alexander Novikov has taught at VGIK since 1967. He was the rector of the institute in 1987-2007. In 1995 he received the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. He was a member of the National Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Russia, the Russian Academy of Cinematographic Arts “Nika”.
