Fraudsters began to deceive Russians using the updated 5 thousand ruble banknote. The Bank of the Russian Federation informs about this.
According to the aggregator, unknown persons call victims, offering to check the authenticity of a new 5,000-dollar bill. To do this, you need to download the Bank of Russia Banknotes application. It is known that such an application actually exists, but scammers offer to install it using a fake link.
“After installing the application, fraudsters gain remote access to the victim’s phone and, accordingly, to banking applications and accounts…” the Central Bank said in a statement.
Another new scammer laugh is known. Under the guise of social workers, they come home and convince residents to exchange old banknotes for new ones. They turn out to be fake. As a rule, pensioners become victims of attackers in these cases.
The Bank of Russia recommends that Russians ignore such offers and not follow links from strangers.
