78 cases of measles detected in five districts of the Penza region – Kommersant

Doctors confirmed measles in the Gorodishchensky, Shemysheysky and Neverkinsky districts of the Penza region, as well as in Kuznetsk (78 thousand inhabitants) and Penza (492 thousand inhabitants). This was announced at a meeting of the regional anti-epidemic commission by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Health of the region Vyacheslav Kosmachev. The press service did not specify how the cases were distributed between the settlements. Mr. Kosmachev called the situation with measles in the region unstable.
The Deputy Prime Minister called on the heads of municipalities to strengthen control over persons at risk and introduce strict measures for their vaccination, informed press service. Marina Vorobyeva, Deputy Minister, Head of the Children’s Medical Assistance and Obstetric Services Department, said that 3,000 doses of measles vaccine are expected to be delivered to the region in August.
“We are actively immunizing contact persons, refuseniks and cleaning up vaccination of risk groups,” the press service quotes the official as saying.
The authorities of the region call foreigners the most vulnerable category, and along with them – residents of the region working outside of it.
The Deputy Prime Minister “called on the heads of municipalities to strengthen control over these groups of people and introduce strict measures to vaccinate them.”
Officials instructed doctors to actively promote vaccinations.
