69% of respondents support the decision of stores not to sell Akunin’s books – Kommersant

According to survey VTsIOM, 46% of Russians are familiar with the works of Boris Akunin (recognized as a foreign agent). Of these, 58% love his work. 69% of all respondents consider the decision of publishing houses not to publish his works and the refusal of bookstores to sell his books to be correct because of the author’s statements in support of Ukraine.

As the study showed, 23% of Russians have read books by Boris Akunin, and the same number of respondents have watched films based on the author’s books. 57% said they were not familiar with his work, 5% found it difficult to answer. Among those who read him, 12% really like his work, 46% rather like it, 11% rather dislike it, 8% don’t like it at all, and 23% found it difficult to answer.

34% of survey participants know that Mr. Akunin expresses support for Ukraine, 26% have heard something about this, but without details, 40% know nothing about it. 11% said that the boycott of the writer by publishers was rather wrong, 8% believed that this was a completely wrong decision.
