Eating out seems to have been just as popular 5,000 years ago, writes CNN. Archaeologists in Iraq have discovered an ancient tavern dating back to 2700 BC.

Hidden just 19 inches from the surface, researchers working in the ancient city of Lagash have discovered that the pub, tucked away just 19 inches from the surface, has been divided into an outdoor dining area and a room with benches, an oven, the remains of ancient food, and even 5,000-year-old utensils. There was also a refrigerator.

First, the scientists found a dining area, then an industrial-sized oven, an ancient ‘refrigerator’ that wicked away moisture to cool food, and dozens of conical bowls, many of which contained fish remains.
