419 thousand people left Russia since the beginning of the year

Since the beginning of 2022, 419,000 people have left Russia. This is twice as much as in the same period of 2021, when 202 thousand people left the country, reports RBC with reference to Rosstat. According to him, the migration outflow amounted to 96 thousand against an increase of 114 thousand a year earlier.
Most often, Russians stayed in the CIS countries: 368 thousand people left, 294 thousand returned. The migration outflow to the CIS countries amounted to 73 thousand against an increase of 111 thousand in 2021. A little more than 50 thousand Russians visited non-CIS countries, 27 thousand returned (migration outflow of 23 thousand against an increase of 2.5 thousand a year earlier).
Most Russians left for Ukraine (79.6 thousand), Tajikistan (58.4 thousand), Armenia (49 thousand), Kyrgyzstan (43.6 thousand), Kazakhstan (40.7 thousand), Uzbekistan (38.6 thousand). Among non-CIS countries, China (6.6 thousand), Vietnam (5.4 thousand), India (4.1 thousand) were popular.
According to Rosstat, since the beginning of the year, the population in Russia has decreased by 480.6 thousand people, or 0.33%. For comparison, over the same period in 2021, the population of the Russian Federation decreased by 307.7 thousand people (or 0.21%). The natural decline in the population amounted to 383.8 thousand people against a decrease of 421.9 thousand last year.
Against the background of the military operation in Ukraine and the sanctions that followed in response, an outflow of personnel from the IT industry began in Russia. By the end of March the country left 50-70 thousand IT-specialists. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin arguedthat by the end of May, about 85% of those who had left had returned. At the same time, in the second quarter of 2022, a record number of labor migrants entered Russia – 3.12 million, informed FinExpertiza.
