The Industrial District Court of Stavropol partially satisfied the claim of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Russia for the recovery of property from Alexei Safonov, who previously held the post of head of the traffic police in the Stavropol Territory. Safonov and other representatives of the “top” of the traffic police were detained in July 2021 on suspicion of taking bribes. According to investigators, they organized a “transport mafia”. who charged drivers of heavy trucks money for travel.
The decision to seize the property was canceled on June 6, 2023, but the Industrial Court of Stavropol, to which the case was sent again, decided to recover money from Safonov with a new decision.
The amount of the claim of the Prosecutor General’s Office was 184 million rubles.
