40 migrants detained at Norilsk airport – Kommersant

At Norilsk airport, FSB and Russian Guard officers detained 40 taxi drivers during a raid on October 27, a local publication reported. Ngs24.ru. According to the publication, the reason for the inspection was complaints from passengers about “annoying” migrant taxi drivers. Telegram channel Kras Mash reported that the detainees were charged with violating military registration rules (Article 21.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation).

According to airport director Andrei Kolesnikov, “intrusive taxi drivers” interfere with the “image of the airport” and all arriving passengers. “I learned about the inspection after the fact, but I absolutely support this event, since 80% of the population’s complaints are complaints about taxi drivers. Migrants don’t bother me,” he said in a conversation with Ngs24.ru. According to the Kras Mash Telegram channel, eight detainees will receive fines, and two more will “most likely be deported.”

At the beginning of September Ngs24.ru reported about raids to check compliance with migration laws in large markets in Krasnoyarsk. According to the publication, representatives of military commissariats participated in the raids at the end of August. By data Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Krasnoyarsk Territory, then during the raids 212 people were checked, 147 of whom were taken to the police department.

In mid-August, the Presidential Human Rights Council (HRC) announced several initiatives in the field of migration legislation. Among them is the synchronization of the issuance of Russian passports and the registration of new Russian citizens for military registration. Then the head of the Human Rights Council Valery Fadeev stated during a press conference that “new citizens of Russia should have not only rights, but also responsibilities. Including defending your homeland.”
