In Buryatia, after the blocking of the BAM, due to the blurring of the canvas and the stoppage of traffic along it, 290 people, train passengers, were forced to stay. How informs The press service of the regional government, citing data from local authorities, managed to accommodate 215 people in hotels and on the territory of the recreation center in the city of Severobaikalsk, and 75 people in the Severo-Baikalsky district.
“Food was promptly organized at the base, heaters were connected. People are provided with everything they need, water. We provide transport, we take everyone to shops or a polyclinic. All issues are resolved, the staff is working around the clock, ready to provide assistance, ”the press service quotes the words of the deputy mayor of the city of Severobaikalsk Alexei Kuptsov.
The stranded passengers are gradually taken to the Kichera railway station for subsequent shipment to their destination along an alternative route through the Trans-Siberian Railway.
As previously reported, on August 19, as a result of the destruction of the dam and exits from the channel of the Kholodnaya River, the railway embankment at the BAM on the Nizhneangarsk-Kholodnaya stretch in the area of responsibility of the East Siberian Railway was eroded. Initially, it was reported that 200 m of the embankment was washed out, then it became known that about 1,000 m were washed away. The washout of part of the embankment led to the overturning of the rail grid by 45 degrees, and the tilt of the contact network supports. On August 20, a regional emergency regime was introduced in Buryatia. Work on the restoration of the railway track should be completed by 26 August.
