20,000 military will provide air and missile defense of Moscow on New Year’s holidays

On New Year’s Eve, more than 1.8 thousand military personnel will be involved in the air defense (air defense) and missile defense (ABM) of Moscow. In total, during the New Year holidays and weekends, about 20 thousand military personnel will be involved in these purposes. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
“More than 1,800 servicemen of the 1st Special Purpose Anti-Aircraft and Anti-Missile Defense Army of the Aerospace Forces will take up combat duty on New Year’s Eve,” the Ministry of Defense said in a statement (quoted from TASS). The department added that the military will serve in units of anti-aircraft missile forces, at radar stations of units of radio engineering troops, command posts and command posts of formations and military units.
The 1st Air Defense and Missile Defense Army is engaged in the defense of Moscow and the central industrial region of Russia from air attacks. It was created in August 2015.
