Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR) installed the identities of more than 20 suspects – active participants in the riots at Makhachkala airport on October 29. They face imprisonment for a term of three to eight years. In the case of mass riots (Article 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), investigators interrogated “dozens of people present on the territory of the airport.”

According to preliminary data, the amount of damage caused “amounted to hundreds of millions of rubles,” the department reported.

October 30, Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the North Caucasus Federal District stated to identify 150 individuals who took part in the riots. By data as of the evening of Tuesday, October 31, at least seven cases were considered under the article of the Code of Administrative Offenses (CAO) of the Russian Federation on petty hooliganism. The courts sentenced the detainees to arrests for periods of three to ten days.

October 31, State Duma deputy from Dagestan Khizri Abakarov reportedthat the damage caused to the airport amounted to at least 285 million rubles. A day earlier, General Director of Makhachkala Airport Said Ramazanov, in a conversation with Interfax said that the damage “amounts to several million rubles,” but not more than 10 million rubles.

On the evening of October 29, a crowd of protesters broke into Makhachkala International Airport and entered the runway. Videos were published online showing rioters conducting an “inspection” of the passports of arriving passengers in order to find Israelis among them.
