14 young athletes became winners of the boxing tournament in Chukotka

In the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, the results of the Boxing Championship in memory of the Hero of Russia Aimir Miyagashev were summed up. Young athletes from five districts of the district took part in it. The winners received medals and specially made souvenirs with the autograph of the Olympic boxing champion, reports Chukotka news agency.

Over the course of two competitive days, athletes aged 12 to 16 years entered the ring. It was decided not to hold fights among juniors aged 17-18 this year. The boxers represented Anadyr, Pevek, Bilibinsky and Anadyrsky districts, as well as the Providensky urban district. This year, athletes from Egvekinot, the native village of Aimir Miyagashev, to whose memory the competition is dedicated, did not come to the championship.

According to the organizers, there are currently no boxers there who could compete in the tournament in this age category. In the finals of the competition, 14 pairs of athletes of different ages and weight categories met. Among the contenders for victory were girls – they fought among themselves in the age category of 13-14 years. Most of the winners – nine, represented Anadyr, they train at the District Sports School. Petr Bologov from Pevek was recognized as the best boxer. Among the girls, the representative of the northernmost city of the country, Alexandra Kanyl, also won gold.

“This year we have made individual medals in the shape of a boxing glove. With the image of Aimir Miyagashev on one side and the coat of arms of Chukotka on the other. The winner of the boxing championship was awarded special prizes instead of cups. These are souvenir rings with boxing gloves and the autograph of Olympic champion Rakhim Chakhkiev,” said Dmitry Kozhukh, director of the District Children and Youth Sports School.

This year, the guest of honor at the Boxing Championship in memory of the Hero of Russia Aimir Miyagashev was Olympic champion Rakhim Chakhkiev. On February 12, he held a master class for the competition participants. A full two-hour training session with the Honored Master of Sports took place at the Palace of Children and Youth Creativity of the district capital.

“According to the Olympic champion, defense is of paramount importance in boxing, and the ability to block vulnerable spots is also important for a boxer. Boxing is not just a fist fight, but a whole science, the boxer believes,” says the telegram channel of the competition’s co-organizers, the Regional Youth Support Fund.

Let us remind you that this weekend six strength martial arts competitions were held in Anadyr. In addition to boxing, young representatives of five municipalities of the district found out who was the best in judo, karate, Greco-Roman wrestling and national wrestling Takev. And adult athletes from Anadyr and Ugolnye Kopi took part in the arm wrestling tournament.
