Deputy Minister of Labor of the Russian Federation Olga Batalina said that 133,000 participants in the Russian military operation in Ukraine have already received the status of a combat veteran. They can take advantage of the full range of federal and regional benefits and payments.
Ms. Batalina stressed that after receiving the status of a veteran, a participant in a special operation can receive a set of social support measures. In particular, at the federal level, they are provided with a monthly cash payment (UDV), a set of social services, which includes drug provision, sanatorium treatment, free travel to and from the place of treatment, and additional payment to pensions. Regional authorities have the right to establish their own additional payments and social benefits for veterans.
According to the deputy head of the Russian Ministry of Labor, all participants in the military operation in Ukraine “regardless of the method of their mobilization” can obtain the status of a combat veteran. She noted that in case of problems with receiving payments and providing benefits, the state is ready to promptly provide all necessary assistance to participants in the military operation and their relatives.
In April, Russian President Vladimir Putin, by his decree, created the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation, which will support war veterans. The main task of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation is personal support for veterans and families of fallen soldiers, based on an individual approach to each life situation, the meeting noted.
