Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the capital government Pyotr Biryukov said that 12 thousand employees of engineering companies are involved in round-the-clock snow removal in the city.
According to Biryukov, specialists from 16 companies use more than 800 pieces of special equipment. The work includes cleaning sidewalks and the road network, loading and removing snow.
Additional forces were involved in cleaning the capital after heavy snowfalls by decision of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, Biryukov said.
“All city services continue to work in an enhanced mode; emergency recovery teams from engineering companies and district prefectures are on duty around the clock,” the deputy mayor said. He also reported on continuous monitoring of the condition of the road network and continuous mechanized sweeping and de-icing work, which is carried out by municipal equipment around the clock.
Particular attention is paid to cleaning pedestrian areas, sidewalks, approaches to stops and platforms, as well as social and consumer market facilities.
