Singer Zemfira Ramazanova (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia) appealed to the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow with a demand to remove her status as a foreign agent. This was announced on Friday, May 12, in the press service of the court.
The defendant in the lawsuit is the Ministry of Justice of Russia – its competence includes maintaining a register of foreign agents. Zemfira demands that the decision to include her in this list be declared illegal.
The court did not specify whether the claim was accepted for consideration and whether the date of the court hearing on this claim has already been set.
Zemfira was entered in the register of foreign agents in February 2023. The Ministry of Justice explained this by the fact that the singer openly spoke in support of Ukraine, carried out concert activities in unfriendly countries with an appeal against a special military operation, and received support from foreign sources.
Soon after, Zemfira released the single PODNHA, in which many saw harsh criticism of Russia. It was reported that after that some deputies of the State Duma demanded to deprive the artist of property in Russia.
