Advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mikhail Podolyak, published a message on social networks in which he named the goals of replacing Valeriy Zaluzhny with Colonel General Alexander Syrsky as commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that he met with Valery Zaluzhny, invited him to “stay on the team” and appointed Alexander Syrsky as the new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to Podolyak, this decision is due to the need to “reconsider the tactics of action.” He added that last year the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not fully achieve the desired result.
In addition, the political leadership of Ukraine strives to “prevent stagnation along the front line,” which negatively affects public sentiment.
Also, the new command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine must find new functional and high-tech solutions to maintain and develop the initiative.
Podolyak also noted the need to launch a process of reforming management principles in the army.
In addition, the Office of the President of Ukraine published a list of changes in the Armed Forces of Ukraine that the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky expects. First of all, the military is required to provide a “realistic, detailed action plan for the Armed Forces of Ukraine for 2024,” taking into account the real situation and prospects. The new leadership is also expected to fairly redistribute Western weapons in favor of the first line of the front, solve problems with logistics and unjustified numbers at headquarters, rotation and improve the quality of military training.
It is expected that Alexander Syrsky will soon present the “reset team” to the president.
