The office of the Ukrainian president has prepared an appeal to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine regarding the legitimacy of Vladimir Zelensky’s tenure as head of state after the expiration of his term of office on May 20. Informed sources spoke about this on Tuesday, February 27.

The judges of the Constitutional Court will be asked whether the Constitution allows for holding presidential elections, regardless of the military situation in the country, and also whether the current head of state can remain in the presidential chair after May 20, taking into account the specifics of the current situation.

Earlier, supporters of former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that Vladimir Zelensky after May 20 will lose legitimacy as head of state, since his official term of office will end. However, according to the law, elections cannot be held during martial law.

Against this background, the Intelligence Committee under the President of Ukraine warned that Ukrainian society by the end of spring will be ready for protest actions due to failures at the front, political miscalculations of the authorities and the refusal of the presidential elections.
