Zelensky was denied a visit to Israel: now is not the time

Israeli Port Ynet reportsthat the Israeli authorities have not yet approved the visit of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

Earlier, Zelensky said that Ukraine fully supports Israel in the current military operation and condemns the attack by Hamas militants, who killed more than a thousand Israelis on October 7 and took about 200 hostages. The President of Ukraine reported that he wanted to come to Israel to express solidarity with the Israeli people. It was reported that Zelensky’s office sent an official request to the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asking him to coordinate the trip. It was indicated that at the current stage the negotiations are preliminary.

According to Ynet, Zelensky was counting on quick approval. It is alleged that he allegedly wanted to arrive at the same time as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, but the receiving party did not agree.

“In Israel, he was told that ‘now is not the time,’” the publication says.

Israel and Ukraine have not yet officially announced possible dates for the visit. Ynet points out that the lack of agreements at the moment does not mean that Zelensky is not welcome in Israel. The publication notes that the Ukrainian side has proven its desire for cooperation and clearly expressed its sympathy, so that the trip can take place as part of the next foreign tour of the Ukrainian president.
