President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday, July 5, said that he had held a meeting on the situation with shelters and bomb shelters in different regions of the country.
According to the politician, the situation remains unsatisfactory – “there is still a significant unavailability of shelters after everything.”
Zelensky assured on his Telegram channel that the state would not tolerate such inaction, and also recalled the responsibility of local leaders in this area.
Earlier it became known that in relation to those responsible for the condition of the bomb shelters in the Primorsky district of Odessa, an inspection began. The investigation is being conducted by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. In 2022, for the repair and equipment of protective structures, as well as replenishment of food and water supplies; in this part of the city, 200 million hryvnias (almost half a billion rubles) were allocated.
However, during the inspection, only 10% of the 245 bomb shelters were found to be usable. Another 20% were considered temporarily limited fit, 35% turned out to be limited fit, and the same number – completely unsuitable.
