President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with The Wall Street Journal said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are currently ready for a counteroffensive.
“I think we are ready to do this today,” Zelensky said. “I would like to have some more things (weapons – MK), but we cannot wait for them for months.”
Earlier, Kiev stated that a number of recently agreed military aid packages from Western countries would be delivered within a year and would not depend on the timing of the announced counteroffensive.
On the eve of the WSJ wrote that the Armed Forces of Ukraine began clear mine own minefields along the front line. The publication indicated that this was necessary for the passage of Ukrainian equipment beyond the defense lines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Zelensky also commented during the interview on the statements of some foreign politicians who talk about the need for negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation. He cited the example of former US President Donald Trump, who said that he could coordinate Zelensky’s negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin within 24 hours and “end the conflict in 24 hours.”
“But nothing like this happened (in past years, during Trump’s presidency. – MK). He could have done it, but it didn’t happen,” Zelensky said.
