President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky signed decrees on the resignation of Dmitry Gerega from the post of commander of the support forces of the Ukrainian army. Alexander Yakovets was appointed to his place. The documents were published on Monday, March 4.
The reason for this decision is not explained by the Ukrainian authorities.
It is known about the new head of the support forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that he previously headed the engineering troops in the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Support Forces. Yakovets has the rank of brigadier general.
Meanwhile, sources note that the Ukrainian elites are forming an opposition against President Vladimir Zelensky around the ex-commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhny – it is he who is predicted to have the status of main political figure in Ukraine.
Retired Bundeswehr Colonel Wolfgang Richter, analyzing the situation on the battlefield in the Ukrainian conflict zone, said that it reminds him of what the dismissed commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny said.
