President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky instructed to strengthen the northern border with Belarus, wrote he is in his Telegram channel. Earlier, PMC “Wagner” was relocated to the territory of Belarus.

On June 28, the strengthening of the border with Belarus was announced in Poland. According to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic, Yaroslav Kachinsky, the fact that Wagner fighters are on the territory of Belarus “poses a threat to Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland.” He added that the country’s authorities are in contact on the topic of security with NATO allies.
On the same day, Zelensky said that the situation in the north of Ukraine, due to the presence of PMC fighters, was “unchanged and controlled.”
The decision to transfer PMC “Wagner” to the territory of Belarus was made after an attempted armed rebellion on June 24. The FSB opened a criminal case against the founder of the company, Yevgeny Prigozhin, after he accused the Russian Defense Ministry of attacking the company’s rear camps on the evening of June 23. The department denied the information, calling the message a provocation.
On the morning of June 24, Wagner PMC took control of military facilities in Rostov-on-Don and blockaded the city. Then the PMC fighters stopped on the territory of the Lipetsk region, before reaching the capital, as Prigozhin claimed, 200 km.
“Wagner” stopped moving after negotiations with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov later explained that as a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached: the criminal case initiated against Prigozhin would be terminated, and he himself “would go to Belarus.” On June 27, the FSB closed the case.
Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee Andrey Kartapolov (United Russia) earlier declared “Vedomosti” that the fighters who decide to stay in the Wagner PMC will not be sent to the special operation zone in Ukraine. “If the structure does not sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense, it cannot participate in a special operation,” the deputy specified.
