Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s new visit to the United States began with negotiations with Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Charles Brown at the US National Defense University. A Ukrainian politician spoke about this on Monday, December 11.
As Zelensky wrote in his Telegram channel, the meeting participants discussed challenges to global security, developments at the front and further Ukrainian-American cooperation in the field of defense.
However, it was not without criticism from the President of Ukraine. He said that in Moscow “they see that their dreams are coming true when they see delays and scandals” around the topic of supplies of weapons and military equipment to the Ukrainian army.
Zelensky noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces need Patriot air defense systems, electronic warfare systems, UAVs and fighter aircraft.
Earlier, member of the House of Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene asked, “with Zelensky in town and money for Ukraine running out, why is no one in Washington talking about a peace agreement with Russia?” In response to her own question, the congresswoman stated that “Washington wants war, not peace”.
At the same time, Shalanda Young, head of the White House Office of Management and Budget, said that Washington faced a difficult choice — whether to risk your own defenses to support your allies.
