A large number of mines on the battlefield hinder the successful counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky following a meeting with Prime Minister of Finland Petteri Orpo.

“We see in which directions we are moving forward, but it is very difficult for us, thousands of mines,” he said. Video footage of the meeting published in Zelensky’s Telegram channel.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have been conducting offensive operations for more than two months, since the beginning of June. The Kremlin has repeatedly stated about the lack of success of the Ukrainian army and pointed to the heavy losses of the enemy. At the same time, Russian troops are conducting an offensive in the Kupyansk direction.

On July 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with members of the Russian Security Council, noted that the supplied equipment and thousands of foreign mercenaries do not help Kyiv achieve any results in the counteroffensive. The head of state noted that the equipment supplied to Ukraine is on fire. At the end of July, Shoigu said that Ukraine had lost 20,824 servicemen and 2,227 pieces of military equipment in July.
