President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that during a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, he discussed a food deal with him, as well as security issues and cooperation in the energy sector.
Earlier, the Turkish leader announced an agreement to extend the grocery deal for 120 days. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation confirmed this fact. The grain deal was signed on July 22 by representatives of the Russian Federation, Turkey, Ukraine and the UN. The agreements involve the export of grain from Ukraine, food and fertilizer across the Black Sea from three ports, including Odessa. The contract expired on November 18, but included an automatic extension of 120 days.
“During the conversation with President Erdogan, we highly appreciated the extension of the grain deal,” Zelensky wrote on social networks. “I assured him that Ukraine will remain the guarantor of food stability.” The Ukrainian leader said that during the conversation the parties discussed security and energy cooperation.
