Zelensky counts on “political invitation” of Ukraine to NATO at the summit in Vilnius

According to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, on April 20 in Kyiv, he discussed security issues with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. The Ukrainian leader noted that Kyiv is preparing for a meeting in the Ramstein format, which will be held on April 21, and “the position of Mr. Stoltenberg is important” for this meeting.
“We are getting ready for our active actions at the front: they are inevitable. We are getting ready for the NATO summit in Vilnius, which is scheduled for this summer,” Zelensky added.
The head of state explained that the program of the summit in Vilnius is already being worked out at such meetings as with Stoltenberg, and the agenda is also being discussed between Ukraine and partners at different levels.
“Neither the majority of Ukrainians, nor the majority of Europeans, nor the majority of the inhabitants of the entire NATO space will understand the leadership of the Alliance unless a well-deserved political invitation for Ukraine is heard at this summit in Vilnius,” Zelensky said, adding that the country’s authorities have done everything to Kiev’s application for NATO membership was granted.
