Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky called on former US President and candidate for this post Donald Trump to reveal his plan for a settlement in Ukraine, TASS reports.
Zelensky voiced the corresponding call in an interview with CNN. According to the Ukrainian president, he does not understand the details of Trump’s plan.
“I don’t understand what the details of his idea are, why he won’t share them and what he’s waiting for. The US elections are still over a year away. If he has interesting ideas, he could share them,” the Ukrainian leader said.
At the same time, Zelensky said that he only agreed to a plan according to which Russian troops would leave the territory of Ukraine.
In late August, Trump reiterated that he could quickly end the conflict in Ukraine. The former US President spoke on air with former Fox News journalist Tucker Carlson. According to him, the current US administration must “pull” the country out of the proxy conflict with Russia in Ukraine.
Earlier, the Politico newspaper reported that Kiev expects Trump to win the upcoming presidential elections in the United States and to reduce the level of support for Ukraine from the American authorities. The newspaper recalls Trump’s promises to cut aid to Kyiv and notes that as elections approach, the Kiev regime is developing its own arms industry. The publication also notes that not only Trump, but also his fellow party members spoke about the need to reduce support for Ukraine.
The latest polls in the US show Trump leading Republican voters by a landslide, despite the growing number of criminal cases against him. The next US presidential election will take place in November 2024.
