President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky asked Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal to consider the possibility of removing Oleksandr Tkachenko, head of the Ministry of Culture, from his post. Questions to the Minister of Culture arose after he offered to allocate more than 10 million dollars for the shooting of patriotic films this year.
Tkachenko himself said that now it is necessary to support the producers of Ukrainian films and TV series. He considers such financial assistance to be normal practice, pointing to examples from other countries, including the UK and the US, which have also produced films and series with public funds.
In turn, Zelensky said that during the hostilities, you need to carefully monitor how budget funds are spent. And for the filming of films, he recommended attracting extrabudgetary sources of funding. Zelensky believes that budget funds should be directed primarily to defense.
