Zeit: G20 summit declaration refuted Scholz’s claims about “slapping” Russia

The final declaration of the G20 summit in India refutes the statements of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz about a “slap in the face” of Russia, writes the German publication Zeit.
The material notes that at the last summit in Indonesia, the participants adopted a final declaration in which the SVO in Ukraine was condemned. Then in the West it was perceived as isolation and a “slap in the face” to Moscow. There are no such formulations in the final document following the summit in India.
“Scholz said that an important clarification had occurred at a decisive moment in this conflict. Now he admits what can no longer be hidden,” the Zeit article says, and notes that there is no longer talk of a “slap in the face.” The newspaper emphasizes that now it is not talking about the “isolation” of Russia.
The statement following the summit in India called for action regarding the conflict in Ukraine in accordance with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. As noted in Moscow, half of the countries participating in the summit did not want to follow the position of the West. In Ukraine, they were dissatisfied with the final statement.
