Zarubina accused Pugacheva of trying to ruin her career

Tatyana Antsiferova, Valentina Legkostupova, Igor Nadzhiev and other celebrities at different times claimed that they had become victims of the “machinations of the Prima Donna.” Olga Zarubina, the performer of the hit “Music is Playing on the Ship,” also added her “five cents” to the general chorus, who for the first time spoke in an interview with “MK” about how Pugacheva tried to ruin her career.

“In 1979, when I was just starting my career, Misha Boyarsky and I recorded a song to the music of David Tukhmanov, “It shouldn’t be like this,” Olga recalls. – We performed it in “Blue Light”, and then after a short period of time we were invited to “Song of the Year”: in a matter of days this composition became a real hit, it is still sung to this day! Misha and I sang then. But we were removed from the air of “Song of the Year”. Before this it was impossible to imagine that this could happen to Tukhmanov’s composition! His songs were never cut! There had to be an earthquake for this to happen. Tukhmanov at that time was the number one composer: only hits!

– Why did this happen? How did Tukhmanov react to this?

– David Fedorovich and his wife were silent. They, like all of us, were in shock. But I think they knew and understood everything. And then other people told me: “In that “Song of the Year,” it turns out, there was a song performed by Pugacheva, “Ah, Summer!” Someone helped to ensure that there weren’t two hits in one program. After this incident, I was not very favored by the music editors. It turned out that there was a director sitting there who couldn’t stand me. I didn’t understand why such an attitude on his part. I later found out that she and Pugacheva were very friends.

By the way, then, after a fairly short period of time, Alla suddenly appears in a duet with Misha Boyarsky in “Blue Light”. There is no need to explain anything to anyone anymore.

On the sidelines they said, Zarubina claims, that Alla is afraid of competitors. And Olga, possessing luxurious vocal abilities, was not to her liking. But Zarubina still managed to overcome this unpleasant moment in her career. Soon her repertoire included “Music is Playing on the Ship,” “The Razluchnitsa-Separation” and other hits, which made her one of the most popular touring singers of the USSR.

“Alla never directly made any claims against me,” continues Zarubina. – If she had to participate in some concerts, she always kept herself very aloof.

– Are you offended by Pugacheva?

“I have no grudge against her.” But in art, I believe, there should not be such moments when a talent’s wings are clipped, “drowned”… This is some kind of pathology! By the way, Alla would make a good producer. She could grow a whole galaxy of stars if she directed her energy in the right direction…
