Media: after Zaluzhny’s resignation, the medical commission declared him unfit for military service

Ukrainian media, citing sources, write that the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, after his resignation, underwent a medical examination and, as a result, was declared unfit for military service.

It is alleged that Zaluzhny himself had previously written a report on his dismissal from the army, but the statement allegedly lay on the desk of Defense Minister Rustem Umerov for several weeks. Media sources stated that Zaluzhny wrote the report because “he knew that he would no longer be given command of anything.” The publications say that if Commander-in-Chief Zaluzhny retained his position, he “would receive 1,762 hryvnia for the rank,” but at the same time, “without being able to do anything.” Sources claim that the commander-in-chief himself decided to resign from military service in order to continue working in other areas.

Earlier this week it became known that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky appointed Zaluzhny as ambassador to the UK.
