Zakharova: Washington is trying to label Russia as a sponsor of terrorism by proxy

The US plans to isolate Russia in the world have failed, and now Washington is trying by proxy to attribute it to the list of countries sponsoring terrorism. This was announced on Sunday by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

“They are carrying out this idea with the wrong hands,” Zakharova said on the air of the program “Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov” on the Rossiya-1 TV channel. As a matter of fact, the Baltic countries have already spoken out on this topic.”

The diplomat stressed that the “isolation of Russia” declared by the West did not happen, as well as the abolition of Russian culture, Russian history.

According to her, “the world turned a deaf ear to everything that was said in Washington.”

Having isolated itself from Russia, the West turned on the “plan B” and began to “smallly spoil where possible”, “mainly by proxy”.

Zakharova noted that Washington prefers to act through the so-called Young Europeans, who, in her opinion, are ready for “anything, because they are direct henchmen of the West.”

The authorities of the states of Eastern Europe, the diplomat believes, do not represent “the elite that is responsible for their actions.” And the US is using it.

Last Thursday, the Latvian Seimas adopted a statement in which it recognizes the actions of the Russian military in Ukraine as terrorism, and Russia as a sponsor of terrorism. Latvia also called on EU states to suspend issuing visas to Russians.

Commenting on this move by Riga, Zakharova said that the Latvian legislators have made a decision that is not based on any fact, but is based on animal xenophobia.

Kyiv had previously addressed the United States with a call to include Russia on the list of sponsors of terrorism, and some members of the US Congress made similar proposals.
