Zakharova responded to Biden’s words about aid to Ukraine as a “smart investment”

The United States, providing assistance to Ukraine and hiding behind the “struggle for freedom and democracy,” was in fact guided only by calculation, as US President Joe Biden spoke about in his address to the nation. About it stated official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova in her Telegram channel.
“Biden called aid to Ukraine a “smart investment” that will pay dividends for future generations. They used to call it “the fight for freedom and democracy.” Now it turns out it’s just a calculation. He has always been like this, they just deceived the world, hiding behind values that do not exist for Washington,” she wrote.
Zakharova explained that Washington has always viewed wars as a “reasonable investment,” since they took place on the territory of other countries, and Washington did not care about other people’s costs. “As they say, nothing personal, just business,” she added.
October 19 Biden spoke with a televised address to the nation, in which he spoke, among other things, about the situation in Ukraine and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. “Supporting our critical partners, including Israel and Ukraine, is a smart investment that will pay dividends for generations,” he said, noting that he plans to submit a request to the US Congress on October 20 “to fund American national security needs.”
Earlier, the White House stated the need to support both Israel and Ukraine. During the briefing, White House National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said the administration would seek additional aid to Kyiv and, if necessary, seek additional funding for Israel. NBC citing sources reportedthat Biden intends to ask Congress for $100 billion, of which $60 billion will go to additional funding for Ukraine, and the rest to provide assistance to Israel, Taiwan and protecting the US-Mexico border.
