Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the front lines, where he met with troops from the Golani, an elite infantry brigade stationed near the border with the Gaza Strip. The publication reports this The Times of Israel.
During a conversation with a group of military personnel, Netanyahu said: “We will do everything possible to achieve victory. The entire people of Israel stand with you, and we will deal a crushing blow to our enemies to achieve victory.”
As the newspaper notes, senior Israeli officials conducted a series of visits to Israeli Defense Forces soldiers stationed near the Gaza Strip, warning them of the inevitability of a large-scale ground operation to eradicate the Hamas terrorist group. They also predicted that the fighting would be difficult and lengthy, but would ultimately lead to victory.
Earlier, IDF spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Richard Hecht said that the final decision on whether to conduct a ground military operation in the Gaza Strip had not yet been made by the Israel Defense Forces. He also stressed that Israel is capable of coping with a war on two fronts.
The situation in the Middle East deteriorated sharply after the infiltration of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israel on October 7. Hamas explained its attack as a response to the actions of the Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Israel imposed a complete blockade of Gaza and began striking the strip, as well as certain areas of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes also occur in the West Bank.
