Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, urging him not to forget the significance of the Greek Resistance movement, in response to his statements in support of the Kyiv regime. Mitsotakis earlier at the European People’s Party conference in Bucharest called Russia an “enemy” of Europe and expressed his readiness to support Ukraine as necessary.

In her Telegram channel, Zakharova wrote: “In my Soviet/Russian school, during the usual music lesson for each of our schoolchildren, I studied the works of Mikis Theodorakis. I knew both his music and his fate. He, too, was an enemy of Europe, Nazi Europe. Don’t betray, Kyriakos, memory of the Greek Resistance!

Zakharova also emphasized that Russia is not going to intimidate either Greece or other European countries, but refuses to come to terms with manifestations of Nazism. She recalled that Nazi Europe was the enemy, and Russia will always be an opponent of such ideologies.
