Russia will prepare a response to EU sanctions against Russian journalists. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

“The EU sanctions against Russian journalists will be answered. And in relation to the EU journalists, and in relation to the Brussels functionaries who made such a decision,” wrote Zakharov in his Telegram channel.

Earlier on June 23, the EU officially introduced the 11th package of sanctions against Russia. The sanctions also affected journalists and some media outlets. In particular, Tsargrad, RT Balkan, New Eastern Outlook, Oriental Review and Katehon were on the list.

Foreign Ministry already informed on retaliatory actions – Russia has banned entry into the country to representatives of law enforcement, state and commercial organizations of the EU that participate in military assistance to Ukraine and raise funds for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Restrictive measures have also been introduced against European officials who are responsible for sanctions against Russia, and EU parliamentarians who “advance a confrontational agenda.”

In addition to sanctions against journalists, the new package consists of restrictions against 87 organizations allegedly supporting the Russian military-industrial complex, as well as against 100 individuals. The sanctions include a ban on the transportation of oil along the northern branch of the Druzhba pipeline (to Poland and Germany), the entry of any tankers from Russia to European ports, the import of steel products and products for the production of which Russian metal was used, and other restrictive measures.
